Position Summary:

The Plant Foreman is capable of performing all warehouse positions. Primary job duty is to oversee the daily operation of shipping. Assure workloads are issued properly, loads are assigned to the shipping team and the day flows seamlessly.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and routine direction to all department employees
  • Utilize JDE and RF Smart to review product availability to minimize shortages
  • Utilize the team, assigning employees to cover breaks and lunches, while keeping detention charges below budget
  • Work with the QA department to ensure all product is available to ship
  • Ensure paperwork is properly filled out and inspected prior to letting the load depart
  • Report all safety issues
  • Capable of performing all general warehouse duties as listed in the warehouse forklift driver description
  • Participate in DOR and shift handover meetings
  • Responsible for following all food safety policies, procedures and regulatory criteria including the current SQF code, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) and associated preventive controls
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 1 year of experience in a warehouse distribution environment

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Must have been previously licensed/certified as a forklift driver with excellent driving skills; demonstrated dexterity with handling bulky objects
  • Must be able to read and communicate in the English language in order to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals. Ability to write simple correspondence and routine reports. Computer literate
  • Possess good math skills to accurately verify product quantities
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Strong communication skills to interact with truckers, trucking companies, coworkers, other departments and management

Typical shifts are 8-12 hours per day.   Additional unscheduled time after hours and on weekends may also be required.  Employees must be willing and able to wear personal protective equipment as required by Company policy and/or legal requirements.  In addition, certain jobs may require employees to:


Work outside and/or in adverse temperatures which could include extreme heat, cold, and humidity;
Be exposed to vibrations, chemicals used in operations, fumes and food allergens (may include soy, dairy and other allergens); and
Be required to work in confined and dark spaces, and at heights in excess of 18 feet.
