1st shift Part Time Summer Helper

Position Summary:

Under general supervision, this position will perform a variety of manual packaging functions such as packaging pouches, tubs, cups, or pails into boxes. Place empty trays onto filling lines. Make boxes and/or label boxes by hand. Perform other operations as required by management. 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Feeding trays and containers into fillers. Packaging of trays, cups, and pouches into boxes. Close plastic liners in pails and bulk boxes when filled, lid pails, and stack pails or boxes on pallets
  • Make boxes by hand through use of hand taper, insertion of plastic liners and label cases by hand; prepare pails to be filled by applying labels and inserting plastic liners; prepare drums to be filled by applying labels and inserting plastic liners
  • Process re-work as well as in-process re-work
  • Perform work area housekeeping which includes removing trash and debris, immediate cleaning of spills, cleaning of tools and parts so as not to contaminate the equipment or products
  • Removal of all and any cleaning solutions and return said solutions to proper cabinets after use to prevent contamination
  • Complies with and assures compliance of others with all GMP, safety procedures, company policies, quality policies and procedures, and Hazard Analysis & Critical Control points as they apply to this position
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Follow verbal instructions from supervisors, line leads, PC operators and co-workers
  • Be able to insert up to 30 trays per minute into filler

Lid pails or stack pails upwards of 12 per minute

Physical Demands:
All jobs require sufficient physical strength and dexterity to perform the required task(s) and typically also require at a minimum: intermittent sitting, standing, walking, climbing, squatting, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.  Occasional lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds or more with assistance may also be required.  Please see the job description for specific requirements.

Typical shifts are 8-12 hours per day.   Additional unscheduled time after hours and on weekends may also be required.  Employees must be willing and able to wear personal protective equipment as required by Company policy and/or legal requirements.  In addition, certain jobs may require employees to:

  • Work outside and/or in adverse temperatures which could include extreme heat, cold, and humidity;
  • Be exposed to vibrations, chemicals used in operations, fumes and food allergens (may include soy, dairy and other allergens); and
  • Be required to work in confined and dark spaces, and at heights in excess of 18 feet.
