Description:

To move truck trailers within our facility in preparation for shipment by driving an industrial spotting tractor, equipped with a hydraulic fifth wheel to raise and lower truck trailer landing gears as required. Use Two-way radio to ensure accurate inventory and location within plant property. Receive inbound loads of packaging materials and raw ingredients.

 

·  Pull loaded and empty trailers in and out of receiving docks to trailer lot on plant property and local public roads.

·  Receive inbound loads of packaging supplies and raw materials and complete all proper paperwork to ensure accurate inventory and traceability.

·  Inspect all trailers to see that they are damage free and properly spotted with safety stands

·  Review production schedule to anticipate packaging component needs-bring into the warehouse quantities needed for production.

·  Perform all spot tractor safety and equipment inspections.

·  Conduct yard check of all trailers and their contents.

·  Complete "daily forklift inspection" sheet per requirements.
 

Job Requirements:

Required:  CDL Required. High School Diploma or G.E.D. and at least 4 years manufacturing. Minimum 1 year of experience in a warehouse distribution environment. Must have been previously licensed/certified as a forklift driver. 

 

Must be able to read and communicate in the "English Language" in order to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals. Able to write simple correspondence and routine reports. Able to operate a forklift and demonstrate excellent driving skills. Computer literate. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks. Dexterity in handling bulky objects. Strong communication skills to interact with truckers, trucking companies, coworkers, other departments and management.  Possess good math skills needed to accurately verify product quantities.

 

Physical Demands:

Regularly requires intermittent sitting, standing, walking, climbing, squatting, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.  Physical strength and dexterity sufficient to perform the required task(s). Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more with assistance.  Additional demands may be required.

 

Work Environment:

In addition to normal business hours, work schedules may include after hours and weekends as needed.  May work outside and in adverse temperatures which include extreme hot, cold, and humidity.  May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration.  Must be willing and able to wear personal protective equipment as required by established Company Safety standards.  May require work in confined and dark spaces, and at heights in excess of 18 feet for prolonged periods of time.
