Talent Acquisition & HR Specialist

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the Talent Acquisition & HR Specialist is responsible for assisting with the timely recruitment of various operations roles, and the coordination and onboarding of temporary staffing. This role will also support the day-to-day management of HR operations, including payroll administration, retention and engagement programs, and employee relations. This position is an internal resource for managers and supervisors on employment matters, ensuring adherence to legislation, Company policies and other matters related to staffing and performance.

Coverage in case of Absence: In the absence of the Talent Acquisition & HR Specialist, the HR Manager will cover his/her designated post.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Talent Acquisition: (60%)

  • Full cycle recruitment including reviewing job requisition, completing intake call and finalizing job descriptions, job postings, sourcing, pre-screening, completing references and background checks, preparing offer letters, and new hire orientation (20%)
  • Deliver positive candidate experience, managing candidate communication, and maintaining candidate relationships (5%)
  • Recruit based on current and future business needs in a timely manner, and ensure all aspects of the recruitment process are being maintained and upheld (5%)
  • Coordinate with HRM and Plant Leadership to determine temporary staffing need on weekly basis and complete temporary staff onboarding, as required (10%)
  • Coordinate and perform new hire orientations and onboarding sessions (15%)
  • Assist in managing the talent acquisition workflow from initial search through first 90 days of employment for assigned roles
  • Maintain recruitment trackers and recruitment KPI’s (5%)
  • Partner with managers to assess personnel needs and develop recruiting strategies to attract talented candidate pools - implement and adapt processes to improve current practices

Human Resources: (40%)

  • Administer and submit all hiring paperwork for new employees (5%)
  • Maintenance of employee files by updating as required (2%)
  • Support with payroll administration - ensure database are up to date with information, including employee records (15%)
  • Provide consultation and advice to people leaders on a variety of employee relations and human resource issues (5%)
  • Ensure legal compliance of federal and provincial regulations and applicable employment laws
  • Investigate, support and make recommendations on the resolution of employee relations/human resources related issues (5%)
  • Prepare and distribute various HR reports upon request
  • Lead AODA compliance and help drive multiyear plan
  • Drive employee engagement and recognition activities, including facility social committee (5%)
  • Support HR activities throughout the year including, Annual Talent Review Process, Annual Goal Setting Process, Merit Review, Employee Engagement Survey. (3%)

 

Education and Experience:

  • Previous talent acquisition experience in both hourly and professional roles, required
  • 2+ years of Human Resources Generalist experience required, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Post-secondary degree and/or diploma in Human Resources or a related field, required
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Good understanding and knowledge of human resources principles, best practices, and applicable HR legislation
  • Strong communication, organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently with initiative and leadership
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ceridian Dayforce and/or SuccessFactors experience a definite asset
