Position Summary:

As Quality Assurance Audit Supervisor, this candidate will be responsible for auditing the facility for compliance to HQ and plant policies, programs, and SOPs.  Audit Supervisor will manage audit schedule along with preparation for audits.  This role will conduct audits, lead audits and compile data in preparation of GFSI certification (SQF), third party (customer) and VF internal food safety audits. Role is expected to build and improve the facilities food safety program and standards, identify gaps, monitor follow up to RCA and CAPA and coordinate corrective action initiatives for findings and non conformances.  This role also includes direct reports that are responsible for overseeing the compliance and audit preparation of quality assurance staff.      

Under minimal supervision, support activities that build compliance and consistency in programs across the VF manufacturing network.  This includes a critical role as a audit supervisor, which involves conducting various audits to ensure compliance to plant and corporate Quality Policies.  Scope also includes SOP development to ensure Corporate Policies are properly translated at the plant level.  Work closely with Regional and Quality Assurance Manager to support effectiveness, consistency and continuous improvement of quality and food safety programs. 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for auditing the facility to ensure compliance to both Corporate Quality Management System policies and procedures, and the plant specific programs including SOPs,OPLs that support the food safety program and regulatory agencies standards.  Supervisor  will schedule, prepare for audits, lead audits, develop cross functional team,  prepare and issue non conformance  reports and monitor follow up activieites for RCA and CAPA .   
  • Lead and maintain the Internal Audit program at plant level to move from an SQF standards based program to a Ventura Foods standards based Company Audit.   Continually drive improvements in food safety programs.    
  • Prepare all required documents for internal and external audits, communicate any non-compliance issues to Quality Manager prior to audit. Assist Quality Manager with all internal and external audits. 
  • Assists with maintaining all company and facility policies, procedures, and programs supporting food safety and quality systems.  This includes managing special focus for key customer specification requirements with compliance to applicalbe to laws and regulations.   Includes all second party audits and third party audits to confirm compliance to all food safety and quality systems. 
  • Responsible for Food Safety, by following & assuring compliance and implementation of all company policies including Safety & HR policies, procedures, all applicable food regulations. 

 

Education and Experience:

  • B.S. Degree in Food Science, Chemistry or related scientific discipline, or at least five (5) years food safety auditing or plant experience including leadership position. Must achieve SQF Practitioner certification. 
  • PCQI, SQF, or HACCP Certification preferred. 

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of manufacturing plant processes and quality management systems.  
  • Auditing, RCA and CAPA experience required. 
  • Good written and oral communication skills as this position will interact heavily both internal and external to Ventura Foods.    
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment and extrapolate information to different aspects of the job.

Typical shifts are 8-12 hours per day.   Additional unscheduled time after hours and on weekends may also be required.  Employees must be willing and able to wear personal protective equipment as required by Company policy and/or legal requirements.  In addition, certain jobs may require employees to:

  • Work outside and/or in adverse temperatures which could include extreme heat, cold, and humidity;
  • Be exposed to vibrations, chemicals used in operations, fumes and food allergens (may include soy, dairy and other allergens); and
  • Be required to work in confined and dark spaces, and at heights in excess of 18 feet.
