Position Summary:

Reporting to the QA Supervisor, Quality Control Technician 2 is responsible for ensuring food products meet safety, quality, and regulatory standards. Responsibilities include routine inspections, sample testing, and documentation to support compliance and continuous improvement in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Sampling, inspecting, testing, releasing raw ingredients and finished products on the line
  • Finished Product sample collection
  • Assist with Hold/release procedures, monitor/verify FP sorting practices.
  • Accurate and timely completion of Quality related documentation
  • Monitor standards of cleanliness and general housekeeping according to established GMP standards during pre-ops, start-ups.
  • Monitor production activities to ensure compliance with HACCP plans, CCP verification, and monitor results and adjust as required.
  • Monitor production activities to ensure compliance with HACCP/ prerequisite programs, SQF requirements and customer safety and quality programs
  • Ongoing maintenance of laboratory including equipment cleaning and regular calibration.
  • Ongoing inspection and documentation of sanitation activities on the line
  • Work with other plant team members to identify and implement continuous improvement solutions
  • Assist in improvement, organization and efficiency of the QC & manufacturing departments through proper documentation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:

  • 1 – 2 years of experience in food processing or related industry
  • Relevant post-secondary educations/training

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Have an in-depth knowledge of lab tests and methodology used in the food industry
  • Written & verbal communication skills
  • The proven ability to make & sustain effective interpersonal relationships
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MSOffice
  • Ability to operate effectively in a customer focused, fast-paced team environment

  • Hourly starting rate of $20.27.  Upon successful completion of the probationary period, the hourly rate will increase to the post probationary rate for your classification.  Please refer to the CBA for further details.
  • Certain shifts are eligible for a shift premium of $1.00/hr or $2.00/hr

Physical Demands:

Typical shifts are 8-12 hours per day.   Additional unscheduled time after hours and on weekends may also be required.  Employees must be willing and able to wear personal protective equipment as required by Company policy and/or legal requirements.  In addition, certain jobs may require employees to:

  • Work outside and/or in adverse temperatures which could include extreme heat, cold, and humidity;
  • Be exposed to vibrations, chemicals used in operations, fumes and food allergens (may include soy, dairy and other allergens); and
  • Be required to work in confined and dark spaces, and at heights in excess of 18 feet.
