Millwright (Day Shift)

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, Millwright is responsible for ongoing maintenance, repair and performance of production equipment in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Safety Standards, SOP’s and Statistical Process Control (SPC) requirements. 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Modify, repair, install, maintain, improve and troubleshoot various types of packing & process equipment in food manufacturing.  
  • Diagnose mechanical problems and provide quick, innovative solutions for mechanical equipment breakdowns by applying proven skills in the principles of mechanics, fitting, plumbing, basic welding, metal work, machining, troubleshooting and analytical problem solving. 
  • Conduct PM programs according to standards.  
  • Responsible for equipment changeover, set up, take down and relocation of all packaging equipment.  
  • Perform preventative maintenance and trouble shooting  
  • Recommend solutions to routine and unique equipment problems.  
  • Response to equipment problems in a timely & customer-oriented manner.  
  • Integrating all plant, quality, safety and security policies and guidelines into all day to day activities on the job. 
  • All other work as assigned by duly authorized Supervisor or Team Leader. 

Education and Experience:

  • 443A Millwright license or relevant demonstrated experience with both processing and packaging equipment such as homogenizers, process valves, pumps, heat exchangers, rotary fillers, bottle sleevers etc. 

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Read and interpret technical specs and drawings.  
  • Operate machine shop equipment.  
  • Conduct PM program according to standards.  
  • Work in a team environment with continuous improvement efforts.    
  • Follow all proper maintenance, sanitation and Health & Safety protocols at all times. 
  • Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and general housekeeping. 
  • Support the timely and effective line handover between shifts, including the completion of proper documentation and accurate briefing on progress/issues. 
  • Acquire new skills as per training provided. 
  • Work cooperatively with co-workers and supervisors as a Quality Focused, Service Oriented Team Player. 
  •  Solve problems independently as per standard guidelines and procedures.

Physical Demands:
Regularly requires intermittent sitting, standing, walking, climbing, squatting, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.  Physical strength and dexterity sufficient to perform the required task(s).  Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more with assistance.  Additional demands may be required.

 

Work Environment:
In addition to normal business hours, work schedules may include after hours and weekends as needed.  May work outside and in adverse temperatures which include extreme hot, cold, and humidity.  Must be willing and able to wear personal protective equipment as required by established Company Safety standards.
