Position Summary:
Reporting to the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager, the EHS Coordinator responsible for supporting the Health, Safety and Environmental, programs for Ventura Foods Toronto. In the absence of the EHS Coordinator the EHS Manager will cover their designated post.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the development and promotion of an EHS culture.
- Develop and implement safety initiatives, controls, and procedures (SOP’s) to address safety risks in the workplace.
- Participate in incident investigations, prepare reports and follow-up, identify root cause and ensure that appropriate control measures are implemented.
- Develop or launch various training programs.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of EHS programs.
- Manage EHS databases such as; SDS (3E), Lockout (Brady360), Ergonomics (Safety In Motion), Contractor Management (ISN ).
- Manage contractor safety program and supporting documentation for all safety projects.
- Conducts EHS orientation and trains new hires in areas such as WHIMS, LOTO, Safety Awareness, etc.
- Perform hazard / risk assessments - Job Task Analysis, PPE.
- Schedule and support IH programs such as but not limited to noise surveys, hearing tests, respirator FIT testing, etc.
- Support the Sustainability program by participating in meetings and kaizen events.
- Responsible for Administrative tasks; JHSC minutes, Plant area inspections, maintenance of Safety board.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- 1+ years of Environmental Health & Safety Experience required.
- Post-secondary education (Diploma or Degree) combined with a certification in Occupational Safety and Health.
- Working towards Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) preferred, or willing to attain.
- 5% travel required in North America.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Comprehensive knowledge in occupational hygiene, industrial safety, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its Regulations.
- Familiarity with WSIB claims management an asset.
- Manufacturing experience is an advantage.
- Reporting of any Food Safety or Quality Problems.

- Annual salary Base Range of $56,416.00 - $70,194.60*
*The “base salary range” provided above is a good faith estimate of what we expect to pay for this position in the specified markets. Typical shifts are 8-12 hours per day. Additional unscheduled time after hours and on weekends may also be required. Employees must be willing and able to wear personal protective equipment as required by Company policy and/or legal requirements. In addition, certain jobs may require employees to:
- Work outside and/or in adverse temperatures which could include extreme heat, cold, and humidity;
- Be exposed to vibrations, chemicals used in operations, fumes and food allergens (may include soy, dairy and other allergens); and
- Be required to work in confined and dark spaces, and at heights in excess of 18 feet.
