Inventory Control Clerk, Sr.

Position Summary:

To ensure the effective management of finished goods, ingredients and maintenance inventories. Research inventory variances and maintain JDE system to accurately represent on-hand inventory balances.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan and review cycle counting process for the most effective use to meet objectives and assignments. Meet closing deadline within the cycle counting program
  • Research significant inventory variances by examining bills of material, receipts, shipments, transfers, production usage, etc. Work closely with Quality Assurance, Production and Shipping on inventory variances
  • Prepare daily, weekly and monthly operating reports. Record and summarize inventory variances and scrap to members of management
  • Verify that inventory is available for production runs, and count/verify bulk counts, i.e., assemblies, packaging, oils, etc. Assists production with daily production variances and reconciliation
  • Review any inventory delivery variances/inconsistencies and provide necessary documentation to appropriate personnel
  • Maintain JDE with warehouse hold tag activity and work with QA to determine proper disposition and allocation
  • Monitor adjustments in the system for accuracy, make necessary adjustments
  • Responsible for following all food safety policies, procedures and regulatory criteria including the current SQF code, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) and associated preventive controls
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience
  • 1-3 years of inventory management experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Warehouse and distribution experience preferred

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Requires working knowledge of inventory control procedures
  • Must be computer literate, experience in office software applications such as Microsoft Office and AS400 helpful
  • Must have excellent math skills
  • Problem solving, organizational and analytical skills are necessary, as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Should have good interpersonal skills with the ability to interact at all levels. Ability to work with minimum supervision and be a self-starter are important to this position
  • Capable of being forklift licensed/certified for sit down forklift and aerial lift


Physical Demands:

Regularly requires intermittent sitting, standing, walking, climbing, squatting, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.  Physical strength and dexterity sufficient to perform the required task(s). Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more with assistance.  Additional demands may be required.


Work Environment:

In addition to normal business hours, work schedules may include after hours and weekends as needed.  May work outside and in adverse temperatures which include extreme hot, cold, and humidity.  May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration.  Must be willing and able to wear personal protective equipment as required by established Company Safety standards.  May require work in confined and dark spaces, and at heights in excess of 18 feet for prolonged periods of time.
