Position Summary:
To effectively clean and sanitize processing, packaging, and other areas of the plant to meet quality and sanitation specifications. To maintain equipment and comply with food safety regulations to provide safe quality product to our customers. To support line operators in the cleaning of equipment and conduct master sanitation schedule tasks.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for following proper sanitation procedures and guidelines to insure a safe quality product. Also responsible that all Clean In Place (CIP) documentation is accurate and Green Sheets documentation is accurate and all pertinent information is completed.
- Must have the skill and ability to make proper CIP connections of line and tank circuits. Has to follow CIP schematics to understand flow travel through piping, valves, pumps, and tanks to make CIP connections. Also has to reassemble all connections back to production status.
- Has to ascertain procedures necessary to operate CIP systems to effectively sanitize processing decks and lines. Must have basic computer skills to load CIP circuits and use Local Controls Panels on decks and Portion Control machines.
- Responsible to monitor flow charts and graphs to record time, temperature, and conductivity of chemicals while operating CIP systems. Also has to perform concentration checks using titration test kits to verify proper chemical levels to meet recommended specifications.
- Responsible for manual cleaning all processing equipment and environment. This includes ceiling tiles, vents, walls, floors, drains, and other various areas designated by the supervisor.
- Responsible for cleaning floors using floor scrubbers as required, transporting trash and other waste to the disposal area.
- Must maintain a Forklift license and Scissor Lift license also Hand Lift license to transport materials as needed.
- Must work closely with Quality Assurance department confirming equipment has passed micro swabbing and microbiological environmental inspection.
- Comply with all GMP, Safety Procedures, Company Policies, Quality Policies, and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points as they apply to this position.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent education preferred
- Prior sanitation experience in a food manufacturing facility preferred
Knowledge and Skills:
- Good mechanical aptitude
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal
- Good hand eye coordination
- Follow detailed instructions both written and verbal
- Ability to work efficiently with others and on their own
- Basic computer skills

Typical shifts are 8-12 hours per day. Additional unscheduled time after hours and on weekends may also be required. Employees must be willing and able to wear personal protective equipment as required by Company policy and/or legal requirements. In addition, certain jobs may require employees to:
- Work outside and/or in adverse temperatures which could include extreme heat, cold, and humidity;
- Be exposed to vibrations, chemicals used in operations, fumes and food allergens (may include soy, dairy and other allergens); and
- Be required to work in confined and dark spaces, and at heights in excess of 18 feet.
