Production Team Leader

Position Summary:
Support for Department Supervisor, Department Superintendent and Department Manager. Coordinate activities in production area(s) to meet production goals, quality and cost objectives. Provide direction to employees according to established policies and management guidance.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work and communicate with the Processing Supervisor to coordinate the daily activities of the B&L, oils, ILS and spice room department including staffing, re-work, ingredients, helping to adjust batches monitoring packaging activities, spice room weighing, and monitoring processing activities
- Give direction to and help manage and monitor the training of all team members in B&L, oils, ILS and spice room departments, including packaging and processing in all areas. Plan, schedule, organize and delegate production needs. Ensure that lines are staffed properly to produce product. Ensure that employees are trained to perform the job to which they are assigned. Administer work rules and company policies in a fair and consistent manner
- Prepare all necessary documents and reports in an accurate and timely fashion
- Monitor B&L, oils, ILS and spice room areas for standard operating procedure (SOP) and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) compliance
- Maintain sanitary conditions in the facility. Follow good housekeeping procedures at all times
- Responsible for supporting the SQF Program and performing other duties as assigned
- Act as backup for other Department Lead (Processing) or other shifts as needed and fill in for Processing Supervisor as needed
- Participate in Continuous Improvement (CI) projects
- Responsible for following all food safety policies, procedures and regulatory criteria including the current SQF code, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) and associated preventive controls
- Other duties as assigned
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma/GED
Experience in the food manufacturing environment with oils, dressings and/or sauces and operating lift equipment preferred
Knowledge and Skills:
- Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively with the ability to give and follow directions accurately
- Must be able to operate all equipment safely and efficiently; have an understanding of continuous system processing, packaging, oil offloading (rail side) and ingredient weighing
- Possess leadership skills and the ability to train employees
- Requires computer skills in Excel, Outlook, Word, Power Point as well as mathematical skills
Physical Demands:
Regularly requires intermittent sitting, standing, walking, climbing, squatting, kneeling, pushing, and pulling. Physical strength and dexterity sufficient to perform the required task(s). Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more with assistance. Additional demands may be required.
Work Environment:
In addition to normal business hours, work schedules may include after hours and weekends as needed. May work outside and in adverse temperatures which include extreme hot, cold, and humidity. May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration. Must be willing and able to wear personal protective equipment as required by established Company Safety standards. May require work in confined and dark spaces, and at heights in excess of 18 feet for prolonged periods of time.
