Tank Farm Operator - $1000 Hiring Bonus

Position Summary:

The Tank Farm Process Operator’s primary responsibility is for the application of consistent and safe work and food manufacturing practices in the operation of the tank farm and work area.  These practices will be continually employed while producing consistent high quality products at the highest level of efficiency to meet our customer’s needs and expectations.

5am start

Mon-Thu schedule (4 x 11 hours) with occasional daily and Friday overtime

$19 starting pay - $21 plus once qualified

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Complete blending Work Orders by following batch sheets, work practices and standard operating procedures, notifying a supervisor and Quality Assurance of any changes from them. Recording all formulation correctly.  Maintaining a safe, organized an clean work area.
  • Operate the votation systems in the production of crystallized products following parameters on the crystallizing log form.  Monitor all equipment and make adjustments as needed to maintain a consistent product quality at regular intervals as described on the crystallizing log form.  Record when and what adjustments are made on required paperwork. Monitor ammonia systems for maximum efficiency.
  • Rework items in QC hold are when approved by the Quality Assurance Department.  Check daily for items that can be reworked into batches being made that day. Turn in paperwork to the lab as rework is completed.
  • Unload oil from the railcars and tank trucks into tank farm tanks. Load tank trucks as needed.  Check all seal for accuracy by communicating with the lab who compares to shipping documents of that particular car or tanker. Hook up steam lines, steam traps and insert agitators to cars that need heating. Retrieve oil sample from rail cars and tankers, take to the lab for testing. Fill out unloading report and receive product into the system following proper procedures after getting lab approval to unload.
  • Follow filter changing policies and procedures.  Change filter as schedule indicates or as needed. Fill out weekly filter inspection form.
  • Perform inventories of the tank farm at the start and end of shift.  Record beginning inventories of tanks, temperatures, and agitation status.  Record ending inventories of tanks, temperatures, and agitation status.
  • Collaborate with the Purchasing Manager in planning tank farm activities.  Railroad switching. Work Orders. Oil Movement.
  • Complete all housekeeping and sanitation duties as required.  Empty garbage cans. Keep ground clear of debris. Sweep, clean, and pressure wash all surfaces on a consistent basis or as needed.
  • Any other duties that may be assigned by a Manager, Supervisor or Leadperson.

                                      

Education and Experience:

Previous food line-production experience preferred, but we can train someone with a willingness to learn. 

Knowledge and Skills:

  1. Must be able to lift 50 pounds consistently and up to 80 pounds frequently.
  2. Ability to perform basic mathematical functions and the ability to compute rate, percent, volume and conversions.
  3. Must be able to utilize time wisely and be able to perform multiple tasks with limited supervision.
  4. Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
  5. Must be able to work around, on and under rail cars in a safe manner.
  6. Must be able to read and write legibly.
  7. Must be able to operate forklift in a safe manner.
  8. Must be able to follow verbal instructions accurately.
  9. Must be able to operate handheld RF data terminals.
     

 

Physical Demands:

Regularly requires intermittent sitting, standing, walking, climbing, squatting, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.  Physical strength and dexterity sufficient to perform the required task(s). Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more with assistance.  Additional demands may be required.

 

Work Environment:

In addition to normal business hours, work schedules may include after hours and weekends as needed.  May work outside and in adverse temperatures which include extreme hot, cold, and humidity.  May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration.  Must be willing and able to wear personal protective equipment as required by established Company Safety standards.  May require work in confined and dark spaces, and at heights in excess of 18 feet for prolonged periods of time.
