Position Summary:

 

The Sr. QA coordinator is responsible for effective and efficient plant operations. Primarily will be heavily involved in overseeing the management of change process as related to new products or changes to existing products within the QA function. Using key systems, will setup formulas, batch sheets, lab specifications, and function as the QA point of contact for product commercialization. Coordinate with cross-functional teams to meet customer requirements/objectives while ensuring established processes are followed. To this end, will work cross functionally with other departments (HQ, R&D, Ops, maintenance/engineering). Secondarily, will function as a resource to the QA department to support in other areas to drive continuous improvement. This includes data analysis services, root cause analysis support, corrective and preventive action support, report generation, standard operating procedure (SOP) generation and customer complaint support.
 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Oversee management of change activities within the QA department, as related to product changes.
  • Breakdown of formulas as requested by R&D/manpack. Formula setup and associated updates in key systems (AS400, Redzone, JDE, Specright, ESE etc.) Updates to production, batch sheet, scheduling notes, and other documents related to product changes.
  • Packaging code date setup and updates. Packaging and finished good sample collection as requested for commercialization. Using key systems, review and approvals of new packaging and labels. Using key systems, set up quality parameters for production and quality checks.
  • QA point of contact during pre-production calls for product commercialization calls. Relay information from meetings/calls to relevant groups for task execution. Attend and provide updates at weekly PCS execution meetings.
  • Lab specifications setup and updates. Create and update formulation recipes in key systems. Experienced in laboratory testing, equipment, and analysis of QA data.
  • Support the closure of quality incidents by assisting in root cause analysis, action follow-up and closure.  Create PowerPoint presentation as needed to present information.
  • Support in the closure of customer complaints.
  • Analyze data in using software(Excel) to reach meaningful insights from which continuous improvement actions can be created. Create PowerPoint presentation as needed to present information.
  • Write/create procedures, SOPs, one point lessons, documents, forms, etc. as needed under the direction of site QA Leader.
  • Any other duties as assigned by QA Leader or direct supervisor.

 

Education and Experience:

 

  • 5 years in Food manufacturing working in a Quality Assurance, Engineering, Process Management, or Continuous Improvement/OPEX role. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in food science, nutrition, biological science, or relevant technical discipline highly preferred.  
  • Prior experience in Quality Assurance and Compliance preferred. 
  • Experience with JDE and AS400 or relevant systems. 
  • Able to work without supervision and prioritize tasks for maximum effectiveness. 
  • Able to communicate well in writing and verbally and work effectively with team members.

Knowledge and Skills:

 

  • Experience in management of change of a process is highly preferred.
  • Experience & certifications - HACCP, SQF, FSMA, PCQI, FDQI highly preferred.
  • Experience in laboratory testing, lab equipment and data reporting considered a plus, but not required.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Experience in root cause analysis is highly preferred.

  • Hourly Base Rate of $62,797 – $78,794.10 for Employees Located in California*

*The “hourly base range” provided above is a good faith estimate of what we expect to pay for this position.   The range provided is for California-based employees as Ventura Foods is required by California State Law to post pay rates.  Ventura Foods reserves the right to pay outside of the given range based on a variety of factors including but not limited to: candidate skills and experience, complexity of the job, budgetary factors, and location/geography.  Ventura Foods conducts regular reviews of compensation ranges and therefore reserves the right to alter this range at any given time

 

Physical Demands:

Regularly requires intermittent sitting, standing, walking, climbing, squatting, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.  Physical strength and dexterity sufficient to perform the required task(s). Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more with assistance.  Additional demands may be required.

 

Work Environment:

In addition to normal business hours, work schedules may include after hours and weekends as needed.  May work outside and in adverse temperatures which include extreme hot, cold, and humidity.  May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration.  Must be willing and able to wear personal protective equipment as required by established Company Safety standards.  May require work in confined and dark spaces, and at heights in excess of 18 feet for prolonged periods of time.
