Position Summary:

Reporting to the QA Manager, this entry level position is responsible for performing basic Janitor tasks within a food manufacturing and packaging environment. 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performing general labor duties as assigned including but not limited to: 
    • General housekeeping and cleaning. 
    • Cleaning and other janitorial activities as assigned. 
  • Report any equipment problems in a timely & customer oriented manner.  
  • Integrating all plant, quality, safety and security policies and guidelines into all day-to-day activities on the job. 
  • All other work as assigned by Shift Supervisor or Manager. 

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience. 

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Work experience in Food Manufacturing, Warehousing or a general labour position is an asset. 
  • Follow verbal and written instructions related to duties. 
  • Work in a team environment with continuous improvement efforts. 
  • Follow all proper maintenance, sanitation and Health & Safety protocols at all times. 
  • Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and general housekeeping .
  • Acquire new skills as per training provided. 
  • Work cooperatively with co-workers and supervisors as a Quality Focused, Service Oriented Team Player. 
  • Respect and adhere to the workplace Health & Safety rules and regulations and company HACCP procedures. 
  • Demonstrated track record of following all proper maintenance, sanitation and Health & Safety protocols at all times. 
  • Ability to properly and safely store, mix and use all cleaning chemicals according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), HACCP, WHMIS & Safety procedures. 
  • Able to operate scissor lift, forklift, power jack and floor scrubber. 
  • Able to lift 50 lbs. 
  • Attention to detail.

Physical Demands:
Regularly requires intermittent sitting, standing, walking, climbing, squatting, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.  Physical strength and dexterity sufficient to perform the required task(s).  Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more with assistance.  Additional demands may be required.

 

Work Environment:
In addition to normal business hours, work schedules may include after hours and weekends as needed.  May work outside and in adverse temperatures which include extreme hot, cold, and humidity.  Must be willing and able to wear personal protective equipment as required by established Company Safety standards.
