EHS Coordinator

Position Summary:

To assist the Environmental, Health, and Safety Manager in planning, establishing, implementing, and maintaining a variety of Environmental, Health, and Safety programs to ensure the highest possible degree of safety for employees. Works closely with plant personnel, including supervisors and employees.  

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with maintaining OSHA and EPA compliance with mandates from Corporate. Duties include planning and organizing training, conducting training, maintaining training documentation and certifications.
  • Assist with EHS program implementation and the use of EHS compliance applications. Assist with conducting accident investigations, reporting using company applications, assist with root cause analysis, corrective actions, focusing on incident reduction and working to meet and improve incident rates. 
  • Help identify and evaluate hazardous conditions in the workplace, conduct and coordinate daily rounds to audit physical conditions and safe work practices. Provide advice and counseling to employees, visitors and contractors for all compliance regulations. 
  • Oversee regulatory inspections are completed, such as fire extinguishers, eyewash, and shower stations, area inspections, egress, and exit signs, environmental program inspections, and other regulatory inspections and audits. Conduct safety and hazardous material inspections and maintain inspection documents and verifications. Assist with environmental compliance reports, sampling, and any inspection mandates. 
  • Assist in maintaining and executing site awareness and incentive programs, including corrective actions and tracking sustainability and utility reduction projects.   Assist with maintenance of Safety Committee.
  • Manage EHS Inventory, conduct plant floor safety inspection and complete safety leading indicators.
  • Conduct safety Orientation for EHS - an hour of public speaking to a small group once per week as well as running monthly safety commitee meetings. 
  • Work with Action Onsite and assist with JSA's, update EHS Communication boards and Kitcase while managing RedZone Safety Idea projects. 
  • Review safety issues with employees on the floor. 

Education and Experience:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in EHS or Industrial Hygiene Management/EMS required 
  • Previous EHS experience in a safety department or program preferred  
     

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Ability to communicate with all levels of management and hourly employees.
  • Ability to multi-task in fast paced environment. 
  • Knoweldged of Microsoft Office 
  • Proficient in training methodologies, curriculum development and soft skills (communication skills, critical thinking, time management, team building, etc.)
  • Strong organizational, planning, project management, problem resolution, communication, presentation, facilitation, and motivational skills required.
  • Superior organizational skills, attention to detail, and communication (written and verbal) skills.
  • High energy, enthusiastic, motivational training style.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability speak to conduct training to small groups regarding safety. 
  • Computer literate with in-depth knowledge of MS office, web-based systems, and visual aids technology.

Typical shifts are 8-12 hours per day.   Additional unscheduled time after hours and on weekends may also be required.  Employees must be willing and able to wear personal protective equipment as required by Company policy and/or legal requirements.  In addition, certain jobs may require employees to:

  • Work outside and/or in adverse temperatures which could include extreme heat, cold, and humidity;
  • Be exposed to vibrations, chemicals used in operations, fumes and food allergens (may include soy, dairy and other allergens); and
  • Be required to work in confined and dark spaces, and at heights in excess of 18 feet.
