Pricing Manager

Position Summary:

Manages the strategic pricing functions for the resigned area to support the food service sales teams. Partners with many departments within the company in the development of a pricing strategy that strives for marginal revenue while balancing volume.  Overseas initiatives requiring implementation with the sales organizations which impacts manufacturing, supply chain, transportation, pricing analysis and action.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manages the pricing discipline for the assigned region. Maximizes margin enrichment through detailed customer/market analysis, working closely with the commercial organization and corporate marketing. In conjunction with pricing administration and customer service, validates accuracy of all customer profiles to ensure pricing, promotion, and deviation levels meet the company’s expectations. Manages operator trade promotion activity through organizations trade management system (Blacksmith Forge).  Analyzes daily enterprise generated reports to evaluate and act upon actual sales margins that do not meet company expectations. This position is a key driver of cost roll changes being passed on to customers. Develop, communicate, and implement corrective action plan when margin expectations are not being met.
  • Develops pricing models and is responsible for the development of all operator pricing proposals, both existing and new business.  Research and provide solutions to the commercial organization for specific selling opportunities that address customer needs (i.e., competitive pricing, comparable items, etc.) that maximizes the financial return to the organization. 
  • Provide pricing and deal leadership and guidance to the Regional Sales VPs, Sales Directors, and Regional Account Managers to achieve annual sales volume and margin targets. This position will work with the oil trading department to ensure proper policy and procedures are followed with all oil contract booking for the responsible selling region.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree  required.
  • 3+ years financial analysis, accounting or pricing experience.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%.
  • Familiarity with business intelligence programs strongly preferred.
  • Experience with foodservice pricing and analytical trade spend management programs highly desired.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Must fully understand financial systems, including definitions and impact factors of margin, accruals, standard costs, and operational overheads.
  • Must be highly analytical and able to tackle multiple projects that can be large and complicated in scope.  Attention to detail and a strong financial acumen is a must for this position. 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills is mandatory as this position will be interfacing with many departments and functions within Ventura Foods.
