Position Summary:
The Manger, Cost Accounting ensures companywide compliance with Cost Accounting policies/procedures by leading the periodic standard cost setting process and overseeing the cost projections requests. This role partners with Procurement to maintain accurate ingredient and packaging standard costs, assesses inbound and branch transfer freight with Transportation, and collaborates with Operations Finance and other key functions to develop accurate annual labor and overhead rates by product/plant. The position also works cross functionally to update/review existing overhead allocation methodology as well as implement enhancements.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead the periodic standard cost process; provide direction and guidance to Cost Accounting team and other key functions on required activities; pursue automation with existing (Microstrategy) or other tools (excluding excel).
- Oversee the cost estimate process to ensure timeliness with and accuracy of cost calculations; establish best practices for key cost calculations (such as freight, multiple plant comparisons, etc.) to drive consistency; focus on continuous improvements to drive efficiency and streamline the process.
- Facilitate PPV (purchase price variance) analysis to identify and resolve potential process issues and to collaborate with Procurement on possible vendor price revisions and/or discrepancies.
- Ensure validity with master data through management of the DNRR (do not remake or reorder) process and "orphaned" ingredients, packaging, and labels (not attached or contained in a valid Bill of Material).
- Facilitate training opportunities for team members to ensure personal growth and development.
- Provide support for other projects as assigned by Sr Director of Cost Accounting or VP Finance & Accounting.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Direct supervision of professional cost or general accountants.
- 5+ years manufacturing accounting experience, preferably within the food or processing industry.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Advanced computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams, Outlook).
- Strong communication, interpersonal, analytical and management skills.
- Self-motivated with aptitude to lead and supervise team members.
- Ability to work effectively with all levels of company and outside personnel.

- Salary Base Range of $119,700 – $157,000 for Employees Located in California*
- Annual bonus (based on the incentive program terms and conditions)
*The “base salary range” provided above is a good faith estimate of what we expect to pay for this position. The range provided is for California-based employees as Ventura Foods is required by California State Law to post pay rates. Ventura Foods reserves the right to pay outside of the given range based on a variety of factors including but not limited to: candidate skills and experience, complexity of the job, budgetary factors, and location/geography.
