Director Marketing

Position Summary:

Direct the product category management team in all aspects of marketing, planning, and execution to drive attainment of management-approved performance goals.  Utilize all company resources to optimize market return to the company.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop and manage brand strategy.  Direct communication, selling proposition, and sales support for all Ventura Foods-owned brands.
  • Leads, develops, coaches and mentors staff.
  • Directs new product development, positioning, pricing, and programming for Ventura Foods brands, and guide retailer private label brands in the relevant categories.
  • Ownership of brand P&L.  Guide price & deal management of all Ventura Foods branded products in the respective categories.
  • Leads the development and execution of annual brand plans in alignment with sales and cross-functional teams, including alignment on business objectives, volume objectives, share objectives and marketing budgets.
  • Drive shopper marketing initiatives and enage at retailer at key accounts if possible.
  • Directs the development of support programs, materials, training, promotions and media creative/planning for the category and manages the creative agency. Provides product expertise and internal/external sales support for all products in the respective categories across all relevant business units. 
  • Sponsor career pathing, training, and development of direct reports to exceed performance expectations, maintain employee retention, and long-term successful business continuity. 
  • Interaction with key suppliers and business partners to pursue viable growth platforms, new raw materials, technologies, and packaging innovations.
  • Provide guidance on pricing, marketing support, and project management of all relevant private label brand products and related development projects.
  • Develop and manage category marketing expense budget.



Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience, MBA a plus
  • 10+ years progressive working experience required, including 5+ years of marketing & 3+ years of supervisory experience needed
  • Syndicated experience (i.e. Nielsen, IRI, etc.)
  • Agency management (including digital, advertising) experience
  • Ability to develop and launch new products and brands
  • Ability to travel: 15%


Knowledge and Skills:
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, written and presentation communication skills. 
  • Excellent planning and organization, project management and time management skills. 
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge of market research methodologies and ability leverage data and insights into marketing/business plans and storytelling to influence.
  • Develop and execute communication and media plans working with agencies.
  • Develop business strategies considering 5C's with recommendation action plan against 4 P's.
  • Build and execution annual marketing plans that optimize investments and resources.
