Bulk Oil Sales Manager

Position Summary:

Responsible for the profitable sale of bulk oil to assigned customers or within assigned territory. Also responsible for developing foodservice commodity oil business within assigned Retailers.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain relationships with customers within assigned territory. Sell bulk oil to these customers in a predictable and profitable manner, to support achievement of company financial objectives, with a particular emphasis on our Restaurant Technologies (RT) business.
  • Grow our share of Retail Foodservice oil volume through bulk oil and 35# JIB oil sales. Align on pricing/margin strategy with Product Management Team and Sr. Mgr., Bulk oil sales (for bulk), and Retail Team (for 35# JIBs).
  • Advise customers on commodity soy, palm, and coconut market dynamics. Monitor oil futures and cash markets to seize opportunities for margin growth through pricing.
  • Report monthly to Sr. Manager, Bulk Oil Sales on progress against financial objectives.
  • Maintain accurate, current information within the Velocity CRM system.
  • Execute oil contracts (futures, basis, and blends) and regularly share contract position reports with customers (minimum monthly).
  • Participate in regularly scheduled team meetings, town halls, and annual events such as team Mid-Year Meeting and company annual or bi-annual meeting.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree OR equivalent experience.  
  • 3+ years' experience in commodity sales or sales support.
  • Ability to travel 10% annually.
  • Sales of bulk or packaged vegetable oil or related products highly preferred.
  • CRM experience highly desired.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Thorough knowledge of domestic futures and cash veg oil markets, and the refined veg oil industry.  Strong knowledge of soy, palm, coconut, and canola markets.
  • Working knowledge of processes used to produce refined vegetable oil and familiar with quality and performance parameters of products used by purchasers of bulk vegetable oil. 
  • Interpersonal skills needed to communicate at all levels, from president of a prospective customer company to a process operator. 
  • Requires broad and deep knowledge of the industry and our company, as well as the ability to adapt to a constantly changing environment.

  • Salary Base Range of $123,300 – $161,000 for Employees Located in California*
  • Annual bonus (based on the incentive program terms and conditions)

*The “base salary range” provided above is a good faith estimate of what we expect to pay for this position.   The range provided is for California-based employees as Ventura Foods is required by California State Law to post pay rates.  Ventura Foods reserves the right to pay outside of the given range based on a variety of factors including but not limited to: candidate skills and experience, complexity of the job, budgetary factors, and location/geography.  Ventura Foods conducts regular reviews of compensation ranges and therefore reserves the right to alter this range at any given time.
