Financial Analyst

Position Summary:

Core responsibilities include forecasting (latest estimate and rolling 12), Fuel for Growth (FFG) tracking, strategic projects/ad hoc analysis, capital planning & analysis, benchmarking, and secondary or back-up resource to other plant finance positions.  You will communicate collaboratively with internal stakeholders to ensure requirements, deliverables, and expectations are addressed in a timely manner.  You will lead various projects to continually enhance processes, including financial modelling and systems improvements, and procedural updates to enhance efficiency and adopt/implement best practices. 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Strategic Projects / Ad Hoc Reporting:

  • Develop financial models that will streamline analysis and reporting
  • Identify and implement process efficiencies to reporting and analysis
  • Ad hoc financial analysis, modeling & presentations
  • Benchmark performance to identify gaps and areas for opportunity

Budgeting and Forecasting includes:

  • Assist with preparation and analysis of financial results
  • Historical trend analysis
  • Report on key financial performance metrics
  • Preparing tools used to assist in the annual budgeting process
  • Assist with preparation of the bi-weekly Latest Estimate (LE) of month’s financial performance

Fuel for Growth (FFG) Tracking:

  • Responsible for maintaining FFG tracking spreadsheet and verification of savings
  • Assist with the ongoing process of managing FFG projects, ensuring timely project completions, and FFG objectives are being achieved

Capital Planning and Analysis:

  • Completion of CapEx planning and forecasting of capital expenditures tracking
  • Assist with CapEx analysis for CI projects and complete required audits after project completion to ensure savings objectives are being realized

Site Resource for System Maintenance:

  • Assist with month-end close activities
  • As required, work with other finance team members on product set-up and other system related maintenance tasks

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree is required
  • 2+ years of experience in accounting, financial analysis, modeling & reporting is required
  • Advanced proficiency with MS Excel & PowerPoint required
  • Excellent verbal, written and listening skills are required
  • CMA or MBA a plus
  • Experience with JDE, AS400, BI a plus
  • Food manufacturing industry experience is a plus

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Must be detail oriented, organized and highly analytical
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines
  • Ability to work successfully in a team environment
  • Ability to grasp new concepts and problem solve
  • Understanding of manufacturing variances

Typical shifts are 8-12 hours per day.   Additional unscheduled time after hours and on weekends may also be required.  Employees must be willing and able to wear personal protective equipment as required by Company policy and/or legal requirements.  In addition, certain jobs may require employees to:

  • Work outside and/or in adverse temperatures which could include extreme heat, cold, and humidity;
  • Be exposed to vibrations, chemicals used in operations, fumes and food allergens (may include soy, dairy and other allergens); and
  • Be required to work in confined and dark spaces, and at heights in excess of 18 feet.
