QA Clerk

Position Summary:

To assist quality assurance management staff by performing tasks which are clerical in nature such as data entry, ordering supplies, preparation of reports and the modification of procedures and forms used within the department. Help and guide in the preparation of auditing paperwork.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain hold tag and RPA system by adjusting inventory utilizing JDE system; updating and distributing hold report; matching hold tags and filing appropriately
  • Create, modify and implement forms to be used within department or production
  • Assists with product flavorings for product evaluation. Analyze weight control data sheets
  • Prepare sanitation, palm oil, hold report, fats report and oil blend recap. Also maintain and distribute weekly code date sheets. Complete certificates of analysis (COA) for shipments and assist with related information
  • Track and organize daily production documentation and file after reviewed by management.  Follow the record retention policy and purge documents as necessary
  • Prepare daily oil list breaking down each day and input previous day’s data. Enter finished product data into JDE
  • Is an advocate of safety within the facility and follows all safety procedures. Following all company policies pertaining to allergens, koshering, etc.
  • Provide production with all copies of their production forms, possibly daily. All originals are to be kept in QA. These are required to be maintained in good condition and up to date. Assist in keeping all QA binders up to date with table of contents, revisions, tracking logs, etc.
  • Responsible for following all food safety policies, procedures and regulatory criteria including the current SQF code, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) and associated preventive controls
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience; Associate’s Degree in Food Science, Chemistry or equivalent experience preferred
  • 1 or more years of experience

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Proficient data entry skills utilizing programs such as Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Power Point, etc. 
  • Detail oriented, accurate, well-organized individual with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to work under pressure in an extremely fast paced environment, meet aggressive deadlines and make effective decisions
  • Understanding of math and basic algebraic equations

Typical shifts are 8-12 hours per day.   Additional unscheduled time after hours and on weekends may also be required.  Employees must be willing and able to wear personal protective equipment as required by Company policy and/or legal requirements.  In addition, certain jobs may require employees to:

  • Work outside and/or in adverse temperatures which could include extreme heat, cold, and humidity;
  • Be exposed to vibrations, chemicals used in operations, fumes and food allergens (may include soy, dairy and other allergens); and
  • Be required to work in confined and dark spaces, and at heights in excess of 18 feet.
