Position Summary:

The Production Foreperson is responsible for ensuring that process lines operate at peak efficiency. Ensures that line is properly set-up and starts at the scheduled time. The Foreperson is responsible for training employees to work in a safe and efficient manner while following Good Manufacturing Practices. The Foreperson must ensure that all appropriate documentation is completed accurately and on time. The Foreperson must work well and communicate effectively with all employees of Ventura Foods.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Responsible for coordinating all line activity to achieve peak efficiency.
  2. Check all coding equipment to ensure proper operation prior to line start-up.
  3. Work with the scheduler to ensure efficient product scheduling.
  4. Perform assigned tasks in JDE.
  5. Ensure that all employees are performing tasks in an efficient, safe manner, while following Good Manufacturing Practices.
  6. Promote a safe work environment for all employees.
  7. Responsible for the blending of process as needed.
  8. Ensure that all appropriate documentation including S.I.S. and Quality Assurance, are completed accurately and on time.
  9. Relieve employees for breaks/lunches as needed.
  10. Document appropriate oil tank levels accurately/timely.
  11. Report to maintenance any mechanical malfunction or deficiency.
  12. Survey for line deficiencies and assist in recommending and implementing solutions.
  13. Responsible for the training of new hires.
  14. Assist in the documentation of training and progression of employees.
  15. Inform Supervisor of low inventory levels of packaging materials and ingredients.
  16. Promote positive work performance and provide feedback for improvement.
  17. Fill in for employees when personnel shortages occur.
  18. Perform additional duties as directed.
  19. Follow all Safety, associated SOP’s and LOTO guideline and programs.
  20. Comply with all Food Safety policies, procedures and regulations including GMP’s, Quality Assurance procedures, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point and GFSI/SQF level 2 or other 3rd party audit criteria as they apply to this position.
  21. Must adhere to all Ventura Foods company policies.

 

Education and Experience:
  1. Must have the ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English.
  2. Must have the ability to add, subtract, divide and multiply using a calculator.
  3. Must be able to utilize time in an efficient manner and work with limited supervision.
  4. Must be qualified to operate forklifts in a safe and efficient manner.
  5. Must possess a mechanical aptitude and ability sufficient to assist maintenance in trouble shooting diagnostics in the event of a mechanical deficiency.
Knowledge and Skills:

Knowledge of Food Manufacturing process.

 

Physical Demands:

Regularly requires intermittent sitting, standing, walking, climbing, squatting, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.  Physical strength and dexterity sufficient to perform the required task(s). Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more with assistance.  Additional demands may be required.

 

Work Environment:

In addition to normal business hours, work schedules may include after hours and weekends as needed.  May work outside and in adverse temperatures which include extreme hot, cold, and humidity.  May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration.  Must be willing and able to wear personal protective equipment as required by established Company Safety standards.  May require work in confined and dark spaces, and at heights in excess of 18 feet for prolonged periods of time.
