Position Summary:

The purpose of this job is to act as a subject matter expert for the planning team by providing functional and technical support and to assist the Supply Chain Managers to ensure that the supply of materials is adequate to meet the production schedule while maintaining minimum stock levels to ensure operational and production continuity.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Act as Subject Matter Expert by mentoring and developing a high performing team of planners that meets agreed objectives, and which delivers best practice results, added value and continuous improvements.
  • Provide guidance and support in the management of inventory risk including slow moving and obsolete inventory. Coordinate with Central Planning on safety stock reviews and forecast opportunities; work closely with Procurement organization to improve raw material issues and optimize supply. Ensure that inventory levels are appropriately balanced between SOTIF (shipped on time in full) and plant efficiency.
  • Provide input and support to assess volume requirements against planning assumptions. Be the first line of escalation for problem solving.Perform root cause/ corrective and preventative action using formal scientific management methodology. Contribute to the creation and implementation of best practices, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve operational performance.
  • Ensure strategic and operational information, reports and metrics are available to share with others in the business as and when required. Report on achievement of targets and identify corrective action.
  • Work closely with Procurement organization to improve raw material issues and optimize supply. Participate in new products/business introduction and monthly review of planning attributes for all purchased items.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, operations, logistics or related field or equivalent experience.
  • At least 7 years of related work experience.
  • Food manufacturing related experience preferred. 

Knowledge and Skills:

  • High level proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Proficient in the use of JDE. Fundamentals of production planning, commercial and financial acumen.
  • Proven analytical, planning and problem-solving skills.
  • APICS certification a plus.
  • Proven ability to optimize team performance and development.
  • Highly skilled communicator with the ability to form and maintain good relationships internally and externally.
  • Conflict management and risk management skills, ability to negotiate and influence.
  • Project management skills, results oriented with the ability to plan and deliver against deadlines. 

 

Physical Demands:

Regularly requires intermittent sitting, standing, walking, climbing, squatting, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.  Physical strength and dexterity sufficient to perform the required task(s). Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more with assistance.  Additional demands may be required.

 

Work Environment:

May work outside and in adverse temperatures which include extreme hot, cold, and humidity.  May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration.  Must be willing and able to wear personal protective equipment as required by established Company Safety standards.  May require work in confined and dark spaces, and at heights in excess of 18 feet for prolonged periods of time.
