Position Summary:

The WCM (World Class Manufacturing) Continuous Improvement Engineer is the factory's leading practitioner for Focused Improvement activities and Kaizen. Working under the guidance of the Plant WCM Manager, the (WCM) Continuous Improvement Engineer will apply rigorous cost deployment to eliminate losses using loss trees and WCM tools and methodologies. The (WCM) Continuous Improvement Engineer will be the SME for the basic problem solving tools, applying the tools to tackle losses, mentoring other factory leaders and operators, and sustaining improvements by driving the transition to semi-autonomous teams. 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collect and analyze data, use statistical methods to prioritize problems, and provide guidance for focus of improvement activities. 
  • Lead project teams to execute continuous improvement efforts aimed at eliminating losses related to Safety, Quality, Service, and Cost utilizing the WCM methodologies. 
  • Coach factory leaders and operators on the WCM tools and methodologies and encourage a change mindset within the culture.
  • Participate in Operations Meetings, providing problem solving guidance where necessary to ensure the efficient operations of the business. 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering discipline (Mechanical or Industrial Engineering strongly preferred) 
  • 2-3 years experience in consumer packaged goods manufacturing or other related industry with experience with continuous improvement methodologies.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • The (WCM) Continuous Improvement Engineer must have an intellectual curiosity, always challenging the status quo and have a knack for understanding how things work. Working knowledge of the basic problem solving tools is a plus. Must be competent with computer programs to analyze data and prepare reports.


Physical Demands:

Regularly requires intermittent sitting, standing, walking, climbing, squatting, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.  Physical strength and dexterity sufficient to perform the required task(s). Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more with assistance.  Additional demands may be required.


Work Environment:

In addition to normal business hours, work schedules may include after hours and weekends as needed.  May work outside and in adverse temperatures which include extreme hot, cold, and humidity.  May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration.  Must be willing and able to wear personal protective equipment as required by established Company Safety standards.  May require work in confined and dark spaces, and at heights in excess of 18 feet for prolonged periods of time.
