Procurement Analyst


Location: Brea HQ

Position Summary:

Lead cost savings and supplier improvement initiatives focused on delivering improved results (eg. cost, service, quality, inventory, etc.) with Ventura Foods direct and indirect spend, and provide analytical support for Procurement Category Leaders.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead or support cost savings initiatives that result in reduced costs for direct and/or indirect purchases.  Includes managing or supporting RFP events, negotiating with suppliers, and collaborating with key stakeholders.
  • Work with Procurement team, other functions, and suppliers to identify and implement improvement opportunities using Lean/Sigma tools and approaches. (eg. Value stream mapping, kaizen events, brainstorming, root cause analysis, should cost modeling, competitive benchmarking, etc.)  
  • Partner with Procurement category leaders to lead or support key strategic/improvement initiatives such as sourcing strategy development, administering RFPs/RFQs, supporting commodity/category strategies, and mitigating supply risk.
  • Partner with Procurement category leaders to lead or support key growth initiatives (eg. new product development, product transitions, customer and supplier additions/transitions, international expansion, etc.).   
  • Operate as process leader for Ventura Foods supplier scorecards including data capture from all key stakeholders, reporting results and trends, and working with Procurement category leaders to develop and implement supplier performance improvement plans.          
  • Support Procurement category leaders with cost support; updating systems with supplier price changes, support and lead quarterly the standard cost change process, and provide input to the quarterly inflation forecasts for direct raw materials.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Business, or related discipline or equivalent experience.  
  • Minimum 5 years business experience in Purchasing and/or Supply Chain leading continuous improvement initiatives. 
  • Lean/sigma training and experience highly desirable.         
  • Food industry experience highly desirable.

  • Strong overall business acumen and organizational saavy with the ability to effectively deal with ambiguity.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Results oriented, self-starter, and able to handle multiple initiatives while meeting all key objectives and deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Proficient with analytical and presentation software including Microsoft Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Exceptional analytical and organizational skills.  Able to back-up thoughts with solid logic and facts.
  • Skilled in proficiently using computers and related software in performing analytical tasks, specifically setting up spreadsheet formulas, linking spreadsheets, extracting data, creating pivot tables, and developing graphs. 
  • Ability to design, develop, and maintain tables, formulas, and graphs in Microsoft Excel as well as set up tables, queries, and reports in Microsoft Access or similar database program. 
  • Ability to prepare comprehensive presentations and reports, and present complex financial and operational information clearly and succinctly. 
  • Skill in communicating complex ideas effectively, both orally and in writing, and making presentations to large groups. Ability to work well with all levels of management and employees.
