Manager, Oil Trading


Location: Brea HQ

Position Summary:

The Manager, Oil Trading will be responsible for the integration of key forecasting, trading, and accounting processes into the Oil Procurement Group.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Forecasting and Reporting for all oil types procured by Ventura Foods across the network of manufacturing facilities, weekly and as requested.
  • Collaborate with and communicate raw material coverage planning across Oil Trading, Demand Planning, and Operations functions.
  • Backup and Support for Department Functions, including Sales Contracting and Supply Chain Management.  
  • Working with Commodities Accounting, review and maintain costing for each oil type at each manufacturing location.  The role will also be responsible for reviewing costing for new products.
  • Procurement and Position Management for Assigned Oil Types.
  • Additional responsibilities as required.



Education and Experience:

  • The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years' experience in vegetable oil and/or agricultural commodity trading environment.  Commodities supply chain experience also preferred.
  • College degree is preferred.  
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment, as well as the ability to prioritize issues and deliver projects and programs on time and within budget.
  • Proven success in cultivating & building relationships with current/future external suppliers, contacts & customers.
  • Experience in financial and/or commodity accounting a plus.
  • Demand Planning (AKA forecasting) experience is helpful.
  • Prior experience working for a food manufacturer.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Be a diplomat to external suppliers, an advisor to internal Sales and Operations and a strategist in global oil trends.
  • An energetic self-starter that can work both independenly and collaboratively.
  • Act as an “expert”, advisor and departmental liaison to internal and external stakeholders.
  • An individual that works well in a team environment.
