Director Operations Finance



Location: Brea HQ

Position Summary:

Director of Operations Finance contributes to the overall success of Operations by effectively managing all financial tasks.  Responsible for supervision, guidance and development of Operations Finance Managers.   Ensure that company (HQ and local) objectives are met, including compliance with GAAP requirements and maintenance of appropriate internal controls.  Partner with Operations Management to promote and ensure a smooth working relationship to deliver the financial plan.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the plants to deliver the Company financial plan while improving the performance of the facilities.   Develop the local Finance Manager and ensure Ventura processes and controls are followed while assisting management to improve the operation.
  • Work with HQ and manufacturing facilities to standardize accounting, reporting and administrative practices.  Ensure reporting metrics drive actionable business analysis.  Assist plants with forecasting to give management insight to trends and opportunities.
  • Facilitate annual planning process.  Partner with Operations to establish an operating and capital budget that promotes growth and reduces costs.  Review variances on a monthly basis with plants to understand root causes and implement corrective action.
  • Provide necessary training on financial analysis.  Ensure all financial and operational reporting is to the company standard.  Identify any potential risks to the business and implement preemptive action.  Promote good project management practices on capital projects and new programs.
  • Position requires visits to plant facilities to audit all programs and ensure proper company procedures and processes are being followed.  Assist local management with design and implementation of proper departmental, division/region internal controls.  Ensure Finance has the proper controls to manage inventories and fixed assets.
  • Evaluate Finance Manager's and facility's use of information systems such as JDE, AS400 and Business Intelligence.  Set goals for training and system use.  Simplify the business process to assure Operations is focused on the proper metrics to drive performance.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree in Finance or Accounting; MBA or equivalent experience preferred
  • 5-10+ years of financial leadership experience, inclduidng direct reports
  • Prior finance manufacturing operations experience at a plant level
  • Proven track record working with cross-functional teams
  • Prior experience with manufacturing financial systems experience strongly preferred (i.e. SAP, JDE, etc.)
  • Position requires no more than 30% travel
  • Food or beverage manufacturing experience highly preferred
