Director, Sales C-Stores (National focus, WFH)

Position Summary:

The Director of Sales, C-Store Channel will be responsible for establishing the channel strategy (LRP & AOP's), executing sales & marketing plans, and allocating resources to effectively achieve objectives.  The incumbent will be responsible for motivating a team of Regional Account Managers and establishing the priorities for our Broker partner who are not direct reports (matrix organization structure).  
Selling the Ventura Foods portfolio is within scope, with focus on driving VF's branded portfolio of products to C-Store chains across the US.  

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Strategy - responsible for the development of a C-store channel long range plan, as well as annual operating plans to meet distribution, volume and profit objectives.  Strategy must include targeted plans by customer/geography, that include the leveraging of our broker partner, data, key insights and internal resources.  This element may consumer more time in year one.                     
  • Management:  Support & leverage the Regional Account Manager (RAM) teams and Broker Partner(s) through ongoing training, joint business planning, and establishing an operating model that facilitates fluid communication and alignment.  Direct responsibility for customer HQ/buying points for national c-store customers/distributors. Leverage internal tools such as Velocity (CRM) & Forge (pricing contracts), as well as cross-functional teams to execute business plan.           
  • Execution - Continually review market dynamics with VP of Sales, Regional Account Managers and Broker partner to assess progress/results and modify plan as needed to meet volume and variable margin goals.  Coach, mentor and enhance field sales execution through the implementation of a consistent and effective operating model.         
  • P&L and Sales Expense Management - Responsible for ongoing management of Channel P&L, with goal of meeting monthly, quarterly, and annual volume and variable margin objectives while managing customer and personal expenses within established budget parameters.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree, plus 5-10 years of sales experience in foodservice, retail and the c-store channel, or equivalent experience in a broad range of sales and management positions including field sales, business development, broker management, sales operations, category management and/or marketing.
  • Experience with financial analysis, budgeting and forecasting is beneficial.
  • Solid track record of problem solving and priority setting in a fast paced and evolving business environment.
  • History of delivering strong business results in changing environments and competitive markets.
  • Knowledge of C-Store arena highly desired.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Must be computer literate and familiar with Microsoft Office and a CRM (Salesforce.com preferred).    
  • Strategic thinker with strong communication and presentation skills both verbal and written, with experience communicating with and through all levels of an organization.
  • Self motivated with a drive for continuous improvement and excellence.  
  • Ability to influence and motivate others.  
  • Key personal attributes including:  integrity; creativity; self motivation; accountability; high energy and results driven.  
  • Comfortable with the leveraging of key internal resources (Culinary/R&D, Insights, Revenue Management, Risk Management, Marketing) to drive exceptional results in the marketplace.
