Position Summary:

The Corporate Environmental (EHS) Manager position will be responsible for developing and implementing the companies environmental program.  The program will be focused on utilizing ISO 14001 to accelerate our sustainability goals.  The position will also be responsible to ensure that all sites are in compliance with local, state and federal regulations and permitting requirements. 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Implement ISO 14001 at all North America sites
  • Influences management to drive environmental performance
  • Provides practical and technical expertise, advice, and solutions
  • Monitors program compliance and participates in EHS audits
  • Assists with environmental permits (air, water, wastewater, and waste) includes: renewals, required reporting, permit modifications, and required notifications. 
  • Partners with operations teams, to ensure EHS is integrated into business processes, to achieve site and corporate business objectives.
  • Facilitates communication within the sites, to share problems, best practices and lessons learned.
  • Fosters the implementation of cost-effective energy reduction initiatives, overall environmental footprint reduction and achieving sustainability objectives.
  • Works with sites to reduce non-compliance with recognized industry regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational safety & health, environmental engineering, related field, or equivalent experience. 
  • Minimum of 8 years of environmental experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of implementing an environmental management system program (i.e. EPA, ISO, OHSAS) is preferred

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Influencing without direct authority
  • Presenting to all levels of leadership
  • Sharing best practices with others, including suppliers
  • Experience implementing ISO 14001 and knowledge of California state regulations

 

Physical Demands:

Regularly requires intermittent sitting, standing, walking, climbing, squatting, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.  Physical strength and dexterity sufficient to perform the required task(s). Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more with assistance.  Additional demands may be required.

 

Work Environment:

In addition to normal business hours, work schedules may include after hours and weekends as needed.  May work outside and in adverse temperatures which include extreme hot, cold, and humidity.  May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration.  Must be willing and able to wear personal protective equipment as required by established Company Safety standards.  May require work in confined and dark spaces, and at heights in excess of 18 feet for prolonged periods of time.
