Position Summary:

Be the lead business manager on the Dean’s® Dip and Gold ‘n Soft margarine businesses. Develop and lead strategic and tactical initiatives on the categories & brand.  Develop and execute the annual marketing plan and branding initiatives for the base business.  Lead in the development and rollout of related new products, innovation in new categories and new channels.  Key responsibilities across all businesses will include achieving volume/profit objectives, establishing and implementing business programs and managing all elements of the marketing mix.   Support and work with the Director of Marketing to drive forward the base business and key initiatives.  This position provides growth opportunities for a Brand Manager with an “entrepreneurial” can-do spirit who can take ownership of the business coupled with sound analytical skills and decision-making.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the brand P&L to achieve sales revenue & profit targets.  Deliver business objectives, including volume and market share goals across the retail channels.
  • Develop annual plans grounded in sound business strategies to achieve both short and long term growth plans.
  • Develop and execute marketing plans, including all consumer promotions, sales collateral and package design; develop and track the marketing budget.
  • Responsible for the ideation, development, and launch of new product concepts and line extensions.
  • Use syndicated data to identify and respond to category trends, competitive activity, brand base and incremental volume trends, etc.; recommend actions based on analysis of causal data and sales feedback.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in the execution of various projects, including line extensions, new products, packaging changes, cost savings initiatives, etc.
  • Organize, direct and coordinate activities, including advertising, pricing, packaging and market analysis.
  • Manage creative process with promotional agencies to develop and execute product positioning, creative packaging and marketing plans.
  • Work with Insights team to thoroughly understand consumer and market dynamics for the categories. Leverage these learning's into marketing tactics and strategies that will drive the business.
  • Partner with sales strategy to support developing the trade promotion plan, including a focus on identifying the most efficient use of trade funds to manage base price, price gaps and TPR’s and merchandising based on “good spend” principles through quality events.

Education and Experience:

  • B.A./B.S. degree in Business, Marketing, or related field; MBA in Marketing preferred.
  • Minimum 4+ years of consumer packaged goods or food marketing experience.
  • Demonstrated ability and ownership of managing a brand 
  • Demonstrated track record for the budget planning and ultimate ROI.
  • Proven track record of “influencing” cross-functionally with key decision makers.
  • Project management experience.
  • Complete Marketing Toolkit: Experience across the traditional Marketing Mix, Product Management, New Products/Innovation, PR, Trade/Customer Marketing, Trade Spending and local media, promotion & events.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Highly motivated individual with a proven track record of establishing and meeting financial & business goals.
  • Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and make decisions with limited supervision and information.
  • Ability to set clear and measurable objectives.
  • Strong organization and project management skills, including the ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proven success in new product development (concept ideation through product commercialization and launch).
  • Analytical ability, including the use of qualitative and quantitative data in developing sound business strategies.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
  • Strong presentation skills, including the ability to develop compelling selling stories and strategic plans, both for internal and external parties.
  • Strong computer skills and syndicated data experience (IRI or Nielsen) required.
  • Ability to solve problems with a high sense of ownership.
