Position Summary:
This position is responsible for processing invoices for payment for accounts payable. Provide verification against invoices and purchase orders, research any discrepancies, and get authorization for payment approval. In addition, this position will support the Supervisor Accounting with Month-end closing / reporting, variance analysis, capital project tracking / close-out, and any timekeeping responsibilities (as required).
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable: Verifies all vouchers/invoices before payment, by auditing invoices against purchase orders, researching discrepancies, enters information for payment into computer system. Prints accounts payable reports & maintains accounts payable files. Answers all vendor inquires regarding payments, providing follow-up to any questions.
Capital Projects: Responsible for the fixed asset process. Review all capital projects, assuring that each project is complete relative to approved Rfe's, purchase orders, invoices and approvals. Prepare closeout folders both physically and electronically. Work with Engineering to assure that all documentation is complete.
Month-end Closing: Work with General Accounting within the month-end close process. Responsible for preparing journal entries, substantiated with proper documentation. Analyze General Ledger accounts, preparing month end accruals. Work with the Financial Analyst, making sure that all entries have been entered , posted . Review of plant's financial performance with Finance Team.
Other Duties: Other duties as assigned and required in support of the Accounting Supervisor / Finance Manager. Including but not limited to: timekeeping, payroll, ad-hoc analysis, and budget/forecast support.
Education and Experience:
- 2 year degree, with emphasis in Accounting or related field or equivalent experience.
- Applicable business experience within a manufacturing environment is preferred.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Self starter with proficiency in Excel.
- Ability to focus and prioritize is essential.
- Accounting knowledge, attention to detail, and problem solving skills important for analysis functions.
- Communication skill are important to convey accounting information.
- Proven ability to problem solve and make substantive improvements.
Physical Demands:
Regularly requires intermittent sitting, standing, walking, climbing, squatting, kneeling, pushing, and pulling. Physical strength and dexterity sufficient to perform the required task(s). Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more with assistance. Additional demands may be required.
Work Environment:
In addition to normal business hours, work schedules may include after hours and weekends as needed. May work outside and in adverse temperatures which include extreme hot, cold, and humidity. May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration. Must be willing and able to wear personal protective equipment as required by established Company Safety standards. May require work in confined and dark spaces, and at heights in excess of 18 feet for prolonged periods of time.
